Information

Nader al-Masri born January 26, 1980 is a Palestinian Olympic athlete from Beit Hanoun in the Gaza Strip. His notable achievements include:

2008 Beijing Olympics

Nader al-Masri participated in the 5,000-meter race at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing, China. He gained recognition as the only person from the Gaza Strip and one of the only four Palestinians who took part in the Olympics that year. His participation faced challenges as, for several months, Israel initially refused his request to pass through its territory to train elsewhere. However, in April 2008, Israeli officials eventually granted him a permit.
He finished in 39th place with a time of 15:47.47.

2015 Palestine Marathon

In 2015, Nader al-Masri achieved success by winning the Palestine Marathon. This event was significant as it marked the first and, so far, the only time runners from Gaza were permitted by Israel to attend the marathon.
Nader al-Masri's athletic journey reflects both personal perseverance and the challenges faced by Palestinian athletes in the context of regional geopolitics.
