Palestinian student Ghazal Mustafa
Ahmad al-Jamal from the town of Beit Surik, northwest of Jerusalem, has
invented a device that automatically opens windows as soon as it senses gas —with the potential to save countless lives.
Ghazal says one of the reasons she
invented this device is that she heard of the death of many people, especially
children, from cases of gas suffocation, and these deaths increase in the
winter due to reliance on gas-related heating methods.
The device depends on its design on
a motor, sensor and wires, it can open the windows of the house in an automatic
way when gas leaks into the rooms.
Al-Jamal represented Palestine in
the "Technology for Talent" competition in the United Arab Emirates
in Dubai, where her machine won the third place.
It is noteworthy that Ghazal won
the Al-Nayzak Award for its project "Gas Detector" in Palestine.
