Yasmen Al-Najjar.. A Palestinian woman conquers Kilimanjaro and prepares for “Everest” with one foot
At the age of 3 years, the Palestinian Yasmine Al-Najjar was injured in a traffic accident that led to the amputation of her right leg up to the area above the knee. Perhaps what happened to her would be a tragedy for others, as they may remain confined to their homes waiting for any external support, but Al-Najjar did not give up even though obtaining an artificial limb was difficult. It constitutes a great financial and psychological burden on her and her family.
The young woman did not accept all of this and raised a slogan that she made an approach to her life from a young age until now, and she titled it “I can.”
Kilimanjaro is the beginning of hope
Yasmine did not know despair throughout her life, so she continued her education and studied psychology at the Palestinian An-Najah University. Her story began with mountain climbing after joining the Palestine Children’s Relief Society, which volunteers to serve children of determination from 10 to 18 years old.
The Palestinian girl said in her interview with Al-Roya, “In 2006, at the age of 10, the Israeli occupation prevented me from entering Jerusalem to install an artificial limb. At that time, I got to know the Palestine Children’s Relief Society, which helped me provide artificial limbs at different ages.”
From the association, a new energy of hope was opened for Yasmine, as she met Suzanne Al-Hobi, the first Arab woman to climb Mount Everest. Being Palestinian, she used to devote part of her time to supporting the children of Palestine, whether by teaching them to climb mountains, discovering their talents, or allocating financial support to organizations similar to “Palestine Children’s Relief.” ", Jasmine was one of the girls that the Hopi helped train.
