Information

Student Yasmina Khair Muhammad Salman from the Department of Architecture at An-Najah National University won first prize in the competition for the reconstruction of destroyed Palestinian villages.

The project submitted by the student Salman was entitled “Reconstruction of the village of Sataf in Jerusalem,” under the supervision of Dr. Hassan Al-Qadi from the Department of Architecture, College of Engineering.

The competition was organized by the Palestine Land Authority for the third time in London. It is an open competition for Palestinian architectural students from various universities around the world.

The competition was arbitrated by a panel of arbitrators from Europe and the Arab world in London on Friday 9/6/2019.

This national competition represents a challenge for Palestinian students, as they had to develop an architectural and planning vision for reviving the destroyed Palestinian villages in Palestine since 1948.

However, such efforts of the Palestine Land Authority contribute to keeping the national memory alive in the awareness of the new generation.

Commenting on the victory of the student, Salman, Dr. Al-Qadi said: "We are working in the Department of Architecture to encourage our students to participate in various local and international architectural competitions in order to enhance students' skills in the field of architecture."

Pointing out that the students in the department enjoy a high level that enables them to continue winning in many local and international competitions, as the department won previous awards for their graduation projects, such as the urban competition in 2014 and the Jordanian Engineers Association graduation projects competition in 2017, in addition to the role of these participations in enhancing students’ communication with the labor market. And to highlight their role and distinguished scientific level, bearing in mind that hundreds of graduates from this department are currently working in various countries of the Gulf and the world. They are highly praised by operators.
