Information

Khalil Abu Raya is a Palestinian teacher and writer from the city of Ramallah .
His professional life [ edit ]
He wrote a book entitled “Ramallah, Old and New.” He is the founder and owner of the National College, the most important school in Ramallah, and he is the builder of the huge building that is occupied these days by the Friends of the Sick Association.
In 1956, he went to America and was able to collect a sum of money from his students whom he was teaching in Ramallah at the National College in order to establish a public library project in the city, which is a very pioneering idea. In the year 1971, when the National College closed, Khalil Abu Rayya devoted himself to working in the library, which he considered dear to his heart, and he continued to do so until his death in 1980. [1]
His illness and death [ edit ]
His right hand was paralyzed in 1975 as a result of a painful illness, and his health had been deteriorating since that time, to the point that in the last ten years of his life he noticed some slowness in his walking and movement. He died in 1980.
