Hussein Fakhri bin Ragheb Al-Khalidi ( 1895 - 1966 ), is a Jordanian politician of Palestinian origins . He served as Mayor of Jerusalem from 1934 to 1937, succeeding Ragheb Nashashibi . He was a member of the Jordanian Senate in 1959. [1] He was also Prime Minister of Jordan for 9 days from April 15, 1957 to April 24, 1957.
He was born in Jerusalem, and had a literary upbringing under the care of his father, Sheikh Ragheb Al-Khalidi . He graduated as a doctor from the American University of Beirut before the end of World War I. He joined the Turkish army, where he worked as a doctor. After the Turks left the country, he joined the Faisal government and was appointed to the health department in Aleppo . Then he returned to Jerusalem in 1920 AD , where he was appointed deputy director of public health. He resigned. Dr. Hussein Bey Al-Khalidi from medicine in 1934 AD on the sixth of September [2] and after that he was elected mayor of Jerusalem in 1934 AD . He was exiled to the Seychelles Islands with a group of patriots in 1937 AD [2] . He spent a period there, then returned to his country and was appointed Minister of Foreign Affairs of Jordan .1953 AD
