Information

Palestinian engineering student at Birzeit University, Amin Taha, got the opportunity to hold the first stage of the international “Hult Prize” competition at Birzeit University.

This gave Birzeit University a new advantage, becoming the first Palestinian university to host the largest student competition in the world on its campus.

Last March, Taha, along with a team from Birzeit University, qualified for the “Hult Prize” qualifiers in Britain, where they presented an idea based on building electrical energy production centers in refugee camps by generating energy through movement through a type of tile called PAVAJEN. 250 contestants in 60 teams from 27 countries around the world participated in the competition, and the Canadian team won the title.

The Hult Prize Competition is an international competition founded by Ahmed Al-Ashqar, a Palestinian businessman originally from the city of Tulkarm.

The competition is based on presenting a global problem facing the world, and giving university students around the world an opportunity to form teams and present projects or ideas to solve this problem. The winning team will receive one million US dollars to begin implementing their project.
