Information

The British newspaper The Guardian chose a photo taken by Palestinian photographer Mustafa Hassouna, during the return marches in the Gaza Strip, to be one of the 20 most beautiful photos in the world during 2018, in a report published by the newspaper on Thursday.

The selected photo was taken by Hassouna for the Turkish Anadolu Agency, during confrontations that broke out near the separation fence east of Gaza City on October 22, as part of the events of the return marches.

The picture shows the Palestinian Aed Abu Amr holding the Palestinian flag in one hand and a slingshot in the other, exposing his chest and smoke behind it.

This demonstrator, who became an icon of the Return March, was injured by occupation bullets on another Friday.

In introducing the photo, Mustafa Hassouna said: Taking the photo certainly threatened his life, as he was on the front lines at a dangerous time of confrontation between the Palestinians and the “Israeli” army, as the army was firing gas bombs and bullets, but he added that he believed the matter was worth the risk. .

Hassouna continued: “The demonstrators are fighting against years of siege, and it is amazing to see their anger. They are still there, fighting. To me, this man waving the Palestinian flag shows that he still has a sense of freedom.”

It is noteworthy that Hassouna was injured by occupation bullets during the return marches on December 14.
