The Spanish newspaper El Pais published a blog post by the writer specializing in international law and director of the Palestinian community in Chile, Jaime Abd Rabbo, in which he spoke about the Palestinian community in Chile, which represents the largest Palestinian community outside the Arab world.

The writer said, in this report, which was translated by “Arabi 21,” that the Palestinian community realized that it could not continue to watch failed negotiations and systematic persecution by Israel.

Members of this community have emphasized that they cannot look with indifference at the way Israel ignores United Nations Security Council resolutions, which seek to end the Palestinian occupation and create conditions for peace.

Although some questioned the legitimacy of their work in Chile and Latin America, the Palestinian community stressed that its mission lies primarily in promoting the value of persons and the right of all peoples to freedom. From their ancestors, they learned an attachment to their cultural roots, a spirit of adventure, and the ability to integrate socially.

The writer emphasized that the members of this community were conveyed to them by their fathers and grandfathers the love of Palestine, and for this reason, communities of Palestinian origin had an important contribution to the development of the various countries in which they were integrated, as they participated in all community activities, including politics, education, finance, and the arts.

But this does not mean that they have lost their memory. The pain they suffer daily has prompted them to break the silence and understand their role before the international community.

The writer stated that the current situation will force the expatriate Palestinian community to search for other ways to achieve their desire to guarantee the freedom of their people, who have not been able to gain their right to self-determination on the land in which they have lived for centuries. Freedom is a longing and longing shared by all societies.

The writer stated that the Palestinians in this Latin country know that some peoples surrendered in different ways to injustice, as some were victims of enslavement and occupation, while others were destined to be ostracized.

They took a lesson from history and realized the value of freedom because they lived under the oppression of tyranny, but their souls were always free and invincible, regardless of the level of oppression they were exposed to.

In fact, there was no way to dissuade freedom advocates like Nelson Mandela or Mahatma Gandhi who encouraged resistance against the oppressor.

These testimonies represented a source of inspiration for them, because they gave them hope to see a free Palestine, a feeling that unites them in Latin America.

The writer added that the Palestinian diaspora are influenced by the courage of women and men who resist the occupier every day to preserve their identity, memory, and land.

From here, the Palestinians gain their special sense and commitment, because they bear all kinds of insults, from ethnic cleansing to the apartheid system that was strengthened in Israel with laws that impose Hebrew as the official language, and discriminate between citizens according to their religion and ethnic origin, not to mention the violation of the rule of law in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Gaza, where human rights are systematically violated.

The writer emphasized that the situation in Palestine reflects the failure of the international system, and represents evidence of the process of disintegration of the global consensus that was reached in 1945, since there is a power like Israel that gives itself the right not to limit its practices in front of any international standard, including the principles of international law.

In Palestine, the crimes committed by Israel were not investigated and the evidence incriminating them was not taken into account, in order to avoid any retaliation or sanctions against their actions.

The writer pointed out that war crimes, crimes against humanity, and regular violations of human rights are caused by contemporary geopolitics and the system of alliances and friendships between the central parties in the Middle East, which led the Palestinians to orphanage.

On the other hand, the international community is of special importance, because it is not bound by such vile interests that are achieved at the expense of the pain of others.

The writer noted that many diplomats are content with official statements urging Israel to stop attacks against civilians or warning it of the need to respect international law to achieve a just and lasting peace, which is almost the phrase that leaders use at every summit or meeting dedicated to searching for solutions to end the occupation.

But the truth is that the drama continues, as Israel continues to expand and build settlements by confiscating more land and increasing the number of settlers.

The writer stressed that the time has come for every citizen with a sense of humanity to support the boycott, divestment and sanctions campaign, as happened in the apartheid regime in South Africa, which was successful.

Civil society work must continue to be disseminated and promoted until Israel changes its behavior regarding arbitrary arrests, discriminatory laws on the use of roads, and daily searches of Palestinians.

Among many other human rights violations are the de facto presence of a wall along Palestinian territories, the confiscation of land, the imprisonment of children and politicians, as well as the suffering of collective punishment in the Gaza Strip.

The writer stated that the Palestinians hope to find a solution for the diaspora of more than five million Palestinians spread around the world, who share the same desire and realize the importance of their role.

Whether in Chile or throughout Latin America, they will not back down from exposing the injustices endured by Palestinians to public opinion; By promoting peaceful measures aimed at creating appropriate conditions that enable them to obtain equal rights and put an end to the occupation.
