The Aktar team met with a prominent figure of immigrant background in Malmö, who holds the position of an official in the Malmö municipality, is affiliated with the Social Democratic Party and will run for it in the upcoming elections: Amani Al-Lubani. Amani has opinions about employing unemployed immigrants, the best way to respond to people like Paludan, what it means to be a person with rights in Swedish society, and her message to the Aktar audience.
Who is Amani Al-Lubani?
She is a member of the administrative body of the Social Democratic Party in Malmö, as well as a member of the Skåne County Committee, and vice-chairman of the administrative body of the Public Dental Company of Skåne County.
She grew up and studied in Sweden, then went to complete her studies in London. She remained in London for nearly nine years to study, completing her graduate studies in business administration, social sciences, and public relations.
She then returned to Sweden to begin her practical activities, and today she holds the position of head of a department in the municipality of Malmö in the field of care for the elderly and people with special needs.
During her childhood, Amani did not form many political opinions, but when she returned to Sweden, she found that there were many questions that needed answers, and many societal issues that needed someone to care about them. She joined the Social Democratic Party because it carries the same principles and is united by her desire to develop society.
Amani says: “The safety and stability that Sweden enjoyed during my childhood was wonderful. I was able to go to schools and universities, and there were no limits to my ambitions... Then, after being away from Sweden for a few years, I returned to find it a changed country due to years of privatization and right-wing rule who reduced taxes.” By 140 billion kroner, we find that this money was deducted from health care and school funds... This is not the Sweden that we used to be the Sweden of equality and justice... This is what prompted me to join the Social Democratic Party, which carries ideas and ideology that are completely opposite to the right.
Nominated as the best official in Malmö
Amani was nominated - not for her political work, but because of her success in her work as a civil servant - to be the best official in Malmö Municipality for her successful administrative work. Amani was happy and proud of this nomination, as she believes that a person should listen to everyone and transform the workplace into a comfortable place for everyone. That is why she felt happy to be able to achieve a work environment that would encourage employees to nominate her as the best official in the municipality.
One of the reasons for Amani’s nomination was her “successful handling of crises.” Therefore, when asked what she would do regarding the current economic crisis, the rise in food and energy prices, and how she would confront it if she had the full decision on how to confront it, Amani said: “I will employ unemployed foreigners.” .
Amani believes that the biggest economic challenge facing Skåne County is the high unemployment rate for people coming from outside Sweden, which means their lives depend on aid. Amani is convinced that these people have great potential to employ them, and that is why if we provide them with jobs and allow them to produce, they will get rid of the state of poverty in which they live, and give a major boost to the Swedish economy.
The unemployed are not the cause of the economic crisis...
Amani categorically refused to consider the unemployed as a cause of the economic crisis. She believes that the current economic conditions in Sweden are due to various and varied reasons. Therefore, the fastest way to get rid of economic conditions, or alleviate them, is to combat unemployment and allow the unemployed to find jobs that increase their purchasing power, which means benefit to the entire economy.
Social demonstrations and acts of violence against Paloudan
In general, Amani believes that the coverage of issues of people of Muslim, Arab, or immigrant origins has a stereotypical, non-positive nature, and she thus agrees with what was stated in a study on people coming from the Middle East to Sweden.
But Amani also does not see coverage of the positives achieved by cultural and demographic diversity in Sweden. From this perspective, she believes that the media gives a somewhat misleading image that Swedish society is full of problems only because of diversity, when the truth is otherwise.
Contempt of religions and hatred!
Amani says that the person authorized to determine the difference between contempt of religions and freedom of expression in Sweden is the court, and that is why the police reported themselves so that the judiciary could consider the issue: Is there a hate crime when Paludan burns the Qur’an?
But Amani rejects acts of violence and attacks on the police, and says that the law allows objection to Paloudan’s actions in many legal ways, and that failure to adhere to this allowed Paloudan to confirm what he is trying to promote.
For Amani, difference of opinion is a feature of democracy, and Sweden needs those with different opinions to mobilize their opinions in order to address public opinion. Amani, who holds an anti-Bloudan position, is trying to work within the scope of the law by mobilizing public opinion to show the extent of the negative influence of Baludan and other symbols of the rise of the extreme right in Sweden.
