The Palestinian photographer residing in the German city of Cologne, Ali Nour El-Din (30 years old), won second place in the UNICEF award for best photo in 2016. 
Through his winning photos, the young Palestinian Nour El-Din depicted the suffering of Syrian refugee children in finding warmth and shelter in the Idomeni camp in Greece, which is one of the largest concentrations of refugees arriving by boat across the Mediterranean to the shores of Greece, in addition to pictures of the children there as they were eagerly anticipating watching a movie in the air. Being outdoors despite the cold and harsh conditions.
UNICEF presents this award in Germany annually to three photographers around the world in honor of their pictures that express the suffering of children in light of the problems of war, pollution, and displacement that the world is experiencing.
The Palestinian photojournalist, Ali Nour El-Din, won the British International Frontline Award in the photojournalism category for documenting daily life in the Gaza Strip for the year 2013, as part of the Frontline Club Awards at its headquarters in the British capital, London.
