Rasheed Masharawi (born in 1962) is a Palestinian film director.

Rashid Masharawi was born in 1962 to a refugee family originally from Jaffa and grew up in the Shati refugee camp in the Gaza Strip. Following his father's illness, at the age of 14, he was forced to work to help support his family. He did not study cinema, but rather reached it through his interest and experiences in plastic art. His first short film, The Passport, was directed in 1986, about a couple who got stuck at the border crossing between Israel and Jordan, because the husband lost his passport. In 1992, he directed a short comedy called The Magician. In 1993, he immigrated to the Netherlands, where he resided for 3 years, and founded, with Hani Abu-Assad, the September Films Company, which produced films in cooperation with the Dutch Arcos Films Company. In 1996 he moved to Ramallah, where he established the Film Production and Distribution Center in an effort to develop local production teams.

Director Rashid Masharawi is considered the first Palestinian filmmaker to work on creating a cinema in the occupied Palestinian territories. Then he completed some experimental works such as (One Moon), (Shaherazade) and (Hummus Eid) in 2003, then his fourth feature film (Waiting), and a feature documentary (My Brother Arafat) in 2005. 2008 Completed His fifth feature film (Laila’s Birthday) and in the year 2009 he wrote and directed four documentaries entitled (Little Wings) on the subject of child labor in the Arab world, where films were filmed in Egypt, Morocco, Palestine and Iraq, in the year 2011 he prepared and directed a film A documentary entitled (A Man of a Homeland and a City) about the Palestinian leader from Jerusalem, Faisal Al-Husseini. In 2012, he finished his new documentary film (The Land of the Story), and in 2013 he completed his sixth feature film, which was shown in international and Arab festivals, and its shows began in different cities. At the beginning of 2014, he completed a documentary film Entitled (Letters from Yarmouk) on the siege of the besieged Palestinian camp in Damascus as a result of the current events in Syria, he won many international awards in international festivals, and participated in membership and chairing arbitration committees in Arab and international festivals. Gaza Washington is a project script for a feature film, which is expected to be shot at the end of 2015

Critic Samir Farid considered his film, Until Further Notice, the first Palestinian film because it was produced in the Occupied Palestinian Territories by a Palestinian crew.
