Majed Muhammad Abdel Qader Abu Sharar, a man of Palestinian politics, literature, and media, was born in the village of Dura in the Hebron district in 1936, and finished his primary studies in its school. He moved with his father to Gaza in 1948, where he received his secondary education. In 1954, he joined the Faculty of Law at Alexandria University, from which he graduated in 1958.
Majed Abu Sharar worked as a teacher at the “Ai” School in Karak District in Jordan, and became its director, before contracting with a Saudi businessman and traveling to Dammam to work as an editor in his daily newspaper, “Al-Ayyam,” in 1959. This gave him an opportunity to express his ideas and national vision.
In 1962, he joined the Fatah movement and devoted himself full-time to working within the ranks of the movement in Amman, in the media apparatus, which was supervised by the martyr Kamal Adwan, the “Information Commissioner.” Abu Sharar later became editor-in-chief of the daily “Fatah” newspaper, and then director of the media center .
After the martyrdom of Commander Kamal Adwan, he became responsible for the central media, then the unified media, and was chosen as secretary of the Fatah Revolutionary Council at the movement’s third conference .
Majid Abu Sharar contributed to supporting and establishing the School of Revolutionary Cadres in the Storm Forces in 1968. He was the most prominent person who headed the position of “General Political Commissioner,” and he held this position between the years (1973-1978).
Majid Abu Sharar represented intellectual, militant, humanitarian, and literary value, as he was highly competent in organization, in addition to his ability to give, persevere, and be sincere in belonging .
He became a member of the General Secretariat of the General Union of Palestinian Writers and Journalists since 1972; He was also a member of the Palestinian National Council and the Central Council.
In 1980, he was elected as a member of the Central Committee of the Fatah Movement. He had a long history in the field of culture and thought. He contributed to opening the doors of socialist countries to revolution and movement. He had toured most of the countries of the year, starting from Jordan to China, passing through Cuba and others .
He published many stories and writings, including a collection of short stories called “Bitter Bread.” He was sarcastic in his political writings, which he published in his “Jada” corner in the “Fatah” newspaper. Among his most famous articles are :

Majed Abu Sharar was martyred on 10/9/1981, at the hands of the Israeli Mossad and its agents. A bomb exploded in his bed in a hotel in the Italian capital, Rome, while he was participating in the activities of a global conference in solidarity with the Palestinian people, and his body was transported to Beirut to be buried in the martyrs’ cemetery.
On April 17, 2014, President Mahmoud Abbas awarded him the “Star of Honor” Medal of the highest degree, in recognition of his honorable national and militant role in defending the land, people, and cause of Palestine, and in high appreciation of his biography and historical, intellectual, and literary career.
