Mai Al-Masry is a Lebanese film director of Palestinian origins. She was born in Amman in 1959. She was educated in the United States and directed eight films. She married her to the Lebanese film director Jean Chamoun in 1982, and they made many films together. They married in 1986 and had two daughters, Nour and Hana.

Early life
Mai was born to a wealthy Palestinian businessman from Nablus, Munib Al-Masry, and an American mother from Texas. She was raised in Beirut, where she lived most of her life. I graduated from the University of San Francisco in 1981. After that, she returned to Beirut and began directing films.

May and Jan won the Trailblazer Award at the Cannes MIPDoc International Festival, held in Cannes on April 2, 2011 in recognition of their pioneering work. Her films focus on Palestine and the Middle East and have won numerous awards at film festivals around the world.
