Information

Yousef Hanna (March 11, 1941 - December 1, 1993), a Palestinian actor, was one of the most prominent founders of the Palestinian National Theater in Damascus in the mid-twentieth century. Before and after that, he was one of the most prominent faces on television that viewers do not forget to this day. Through the many, remarkable roles he played in Syrian dramas since their beginnings, he is the one who kept pace with Syrian drama production and lived through its stages of development, reaching the dense and artistically mature production.

He worked on stage, and participated in a number of Syrian films, and some Egyptian-Syrian joint films. However, the Arab viewer remembers him for his remarkable role with Duraid Lahham in the play Shaqeq Al-Naman, and also through his beautiful role in Haitham Haqqi’s series “Al-Daghari”, during which he unleashed acting energies that combined credibility with the expressiveness of simple performance. Youssef Hanna is from the generation of Palestinian and Syrian artists who began acting in The time of hobby, so they were devoted to their art, and lived it as the most important and beautiful aspect of their being alive. Until the last minute of his short life, he remained haunted by art, dreaming of new roles in more important and beautiful works than those he had accomplished.
