Dareen Salam (1987-) is a Jordanian actress and director of Palestinian origin. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from the University of Applied Sciences in 2009, and obtained a master’s degree in 2012 in cinematic arts from the Red Sea Institute of Cinematic Arts.
She worked as a supervisor for the Filmmaker Support Program at the Royal Film Commission of Jordan during the period 2012-2013, then served as director of the Rainbow Theater during the years 2013-2014, and a founding member and partner of the Jordanian TaleBox Foundation since 2016.

A joy movie
It is Dareen's first feature film. She began working on it during the year 2016, but she faced a lot of pressure surrounding it, which led to the cessation of work. In 2021, she returned to complete it. It is a film that tells the story of a Palestinian teenager who dreams of completing her studies in the city, but the occurrence of the 1948 Nakba prevents that, so her father hides her. In the basement of the house, he promises to return soon to save her. The name symbolizes the joy forcibly stolen from Palestinians, and the film’s story is based on a Palestinian woman who fled to Syria and told her story to Darren’s mother.
The film was shown on Netflix, which angered the Israeli government and demanded that it stop showing it.
