Information

Subhi Abu Lughod is a Palestinian journalist , one of the founders of Near East Radio , which was founded in 1941. He served as program director on Iraqi radio and an expert on special educational programs.

His biography

Subhi Abu Lughod began his work on Near East Radio, which broadcast from Jaffa , with a group of broadcasters and musicians, including Jawad Zadeh, Sabri Al-Sharif , Samir Abu Ghazaleh and others. Following Britain’s withdrawal from Palestine , the radio began broadcasting its programs from Cyprus and became a great extension in the Arab world , especially in Egypt . . [3]
In 1956, British aircraft bombed Egyptian radio stations near Cairo. All Arab employees working in the radio submitted their resignations in protest against the tripartite aggression and declared their support for Egypt and Gamal Abdel Nasser . In 1959, a military car came to his house and asked him, based on the orders of the Lebanese officer Ahmed Al-Hajj. He asked the Lebanese Ministry of Information to organize the radio and present programs and skits, so he and his companions contributed to the supervision and rehabilitation of Radio Lebanon, [4] and after that he moved with Rawhi Al-Khamash , Muhammad Al-Ghussein, Abdel Majeed Abu Laban, and Samira. Azzam and Muhammad Karim to work on Iraqi Radio. [5]
He served on the radio for sixteen years, during which he visited all Arab countries, and was distinguished by presenting cultural programs in a light context. [6] [7] He provided dubbing for the roles of “Zoril and Blackie” from the famous Japanese cartoon Grandizer . [8]

It was said about him

Broadcaster Glads Youssef , nicknamed the Iraqi Radio Crown, says : I entered the radio in the fall of 1956 in the month of September, and Near East Radio was one of the most successful radio stations at that time, and its experts included the distinguished Professor Abdel Majeed Abu Laban and Professor Subhi Abu Lughod, and they contributed effectively to establishing and activating most of the Arab radio stations. . As for the Iraqi Broadcasting House, it contracted with them, and they came to supervise its programs. They initially trained us after a building close to the radio station, near the Iranian embassy in Karada Maryam , had been allocated for this purpose . We were four trainees at that time, and among us was the late writer Samira Azzam , who was preparing and presenting one of the most successful programs, “Sabah Greetings.”
