Walid Salim Yousef Abdel Rahim (Abu Khaled; born in 1955 in Zarqa - died on February 10, 2021 in Amman ) is a Palestinian -Jordanian journalist and diplomat . He served as the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Peru between 2006 and 2014, and to Uruguay between 2014 and 2021.
His life
He studied journalism and media at the University of Havana in Cuba , and worked on the staff of the Palestinian Embassy in Cuba until 2005, when he became Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Nicaragua .
On October 31, 2005, he was granted the rank of ambassador and appointed head of the Palestine mission to Peru . [3] On March 4, 2006, he presented his credentials to the Peruvian Minister of Foreign Affairs.
He is the first ambassador of the State of Palestine to Ecuador, where he presented his credentials to the President of the Republic of Ecuador on November 30, 2008 as a non-resident ambassador of the State of Palestine. [5]
He presented his credentials as Ambassador to the Embassy of the State of Palestine to Uruguay on December 5, 2014 . [6]
On February 12, 2015, he was awarded the Order of the Sun of Peru, Grand Cross, on the occasion of the end of his diplomatic mission in Peru. [7]
His death
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates announced his death in the Jordanian capital on February 10, 2021, following a severe illness, and he was buried in the Shafa Badran cemetery, north of Amman, on February 11, 2021.
