Dima Al-Khatib is a Palestinian-Syrian journalist, born in Damascus on July 14, 1971. She is the daughter of the well-known Arab critic and professor of the Arabic language, Hossam Al-Khatib. She graduated from the University of Geneva in Switzerland with a major in translation and speaks eight languages, including Arabic, English, French, and Spanish, in addition to Italian, German, Portuguese, and Chinese. She worked at the International Health Organization, the World Health Organization, Swiss Radio International, and Agence France-Presse.

She has worked for Al Jazeera since 1998, during which she held, among other positions, the position of Director of the Al Jazeera Regional Bureau in Venezuela, where she was the only Arab correspondent residing in South America and the first woman to manage an external office for Al Jazeera. She also worked as a roving correspondent in Asia, where she established Al Jazeera's China bureau. Al Jazeera was represented in more than twenty countries around the world through press coverage or participation in conferences. She currently works as a lecturer at the American University in Dubai.

She had several private meetings with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, as well as meetings with Bolivian President Evo Morales, Ecuadorian President Rafael Correa, and Brazilian President Lula da Silva.

She was classified by several parties as one of the most influential Arab figures on Twitter through her coverage of the Arab revolutions.
