Information

Karim Rabie is a distinguished Network Policy Analyst and assistant professor of anthropology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. With a focus on privatization, urban development, and the state-building project in the West Bank, his research has made significant contributions to the understanding of these complex dynamics. This expertise led to the publication of his first book, "Palestine is Throwing a Party and the Whole World is Invited" (Duke University Press, 2021), which delves into these critical issues.
Currently, Rabie's scholarly endeavors extend to exploring the political economy and human geography of Palestinian-Chinese trade, representing a new area of inquiry that promises valuable insights. Prior to his current position, Rabie served as an Assistant Professor of Anthropology at American University in Washington and held prestigious fellowships, including the Harper Schmidt Fellowship at the University of Chicago and the Marie Curie Fellowship/Principal Investigator role at the University of Oxford's Center on Migration, Policy and Society (COMPAS).
Through his interdisciplinary research and academic contributions, Karim Rabie continues to enrich the field of anthropology and offer nuanced perspectives on the socio-political landscape of the Middle East and beyond.
