Sulafa Hijjawi was born in Nablus in 1934, obtained a BA in English Literature from the University of Baghdad; MA in Political Science.


Sulafa resided in Baghdad where she married the Iraqi poet "Kathem Jawad", worked as a tutor; editorial board of the Institute for Palestine Studies in Baghdad; worked at the University of Baghdad (1974-1980); director of the Palestinian Planning Institute in Tunis; currently works as general director of the Planning Institute in Gaza. 

She has published and translated many studies and articles.
