Khaled Zuhair Khaled Al-Asili (Abu Zuhair; born on February 1, 1947 in Hebron ) is a Palestinian businessman , and the mayor of Hebron in Palestine from 2006 AD to 2012. He currently holds the position of Minister of National Economy within the government of Muhammad Shtayyeh .

his life

He was born in the city of Hebron in 1947 AD . After completing his secondary studies, he joined Cairo University in Egypt , and obtained a bachelor’s degree in administrative and financial sciences in 1969 AD .

After his return to Hebron, he became interested in economic and social work, where he established the “Al-Osaili Trading and Contracting Company,” participated in establishing many national institutions, and held membership positions in their administrative bodies. In 1976 AD , when the first municipal elections were held, he ran for election on the “National Bloc” list, and won membership in the Hebron Municipal Council at the age of 29. He was the youngest member of the municipal council. While a member of the Hebron Municipal Council , he held the position of Deputy Mayor.

With the advent of the Palestinian National Authority, he participated and contributed to the establishment of many national companies, most notably the “ Palestinian Telecommunications Group ,” of which he participated in the board of directors for several years, and the “APEC Group,” of which he is still vice chairman of the board of directors, and many other companies such as “NAPCO.” "of which he chairs the Board of Directors. He participated in several sessions of the Palestinian National Council , of which he is a member, and in April 2006 , upon the commission of President Mahmoud Abbas , he served as mayor of Hebron until the 2012-13 Palestinian local elections.

His wife, Samia Fawzi Maraqa, died on August 13, 2023.
