Dr. Atallah Kuttab is a distinguished figure known for his contributions to civil engineering, social development, and philanthropy in the Arab region. With a strong academic background, Dr. Kuttab earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from the prestigious University of London - Imperial College. Prior to this, he obtained a master's degree in civil engineering from the University of Michigan/Ann Arbor and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from the American University of Beirut.
Dr. Kuttab's professional journey began in 1976 when he embarked on a career in engineering consulting in the United Arab Emirates. In 1980, he returned to Palestine and played a pivotal role in establishing the Department of Civil Engineering at Birzeit University. Additionally, he served as a visiting researcher and supervisor of doctoral students at Heriot-Watt University in Scotland.
Throughout his career, Dr. Kuttab has been actively involved in humanitarian and social development initiatives. From 1991 to 2005, he served as a technical advisor with German Aid in Zambia for three years. Following this, he worked with Save the Children for 11 years, serving as the organization's regional director in the Middle East. In this role, he was responsible for managing operations in Palestine, Egypt, Lebanon, and Jordan. From 2005 to 2011, Dr. Kuttab held the position of Director General of the Taawon Foundation, further demonstrating his commitment to philanthropy and community development.
Dr. Kuttab's influence extends beyond his professional roles. He is a founding member of the Arab Fund for Human Rights and the Arab Donors Forum. Additionally, he serves as Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Arab Reform Initiative since 2015. Furthermore, Dr. Kuttab holds the esteemed position of Honorary President of the World Network of Development Grantmakers (WINGS), highlighting his global impact and leadership in the field of social giving and development.
