Kamel Taher Al-Husseini (1867 - 1921): He was the former Grand Mufti of Jerusalem . He was born in Jerusalem on February 23, 1867. He assumed the position of fatwa after the death of his father, Taher Al-Husseini in 1908. Kamel was known for his moderate and anti-Zionist positions. Al-Husseini participated in laying the foundation stone for the Hebrew University In Jerusalem with the participation of Lord Balfour and Chaim Weizmann .

After the British occupation of Palestine after World War I , Al-Husseini was appointed head of the Sharia Court of Appeal, and head of the Higher Endowment Committee in Palestine, despite the conflict between the positions of fatwa and judiciary. Thus, al-Husayni became responsible for the administration of endowments throughout Palestine.
