Information
Sheikh Rushdi Said al-Bitar al-Husseini was born and educated in Nablus, graduating from Al-Azhar University with a degree in Islamic Studies. He served as a Sharia judge in Nablus until 1925 and became the preacher of the Great Salahi Mosque. He was entrusted with the custodianship of the Prophet's hair, which was brought from Istanbul by Haidar Touqan, a member of the Ottoman Parliament, amidst celebrations and great emotion from the people. This custodianship was entrusted to him and his descendants due to his position and his lineage to Imam Hussein ibn Ali ibn Abi Talib (may God be pleased with them both). He was later transferred to Nazareth as a Sharia judge, and subsequently to Gaza, where he passed away. His body was then transported to his birthplace in Nablus.
