Abdul Hamid Abu Habib (born June 8, 1989 in Khan Yunis ) is a Palestinian footballer who currently plays for Balata Youth Center as an attacking midfielder.
The early years
Abu Habib started playing football on the streets of Khan Younis at an early age. He joined the youth team of the Khan Younis Youth Club as a teenager, following in the footsteps of his older brother Mohammed. Despite his small stature, it wasn’t long before Abu Habib joined his brother on the first team, earning his first cap in 2005.
International march
Abuhabib was first called up in July 2011 for the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Thailand but had to withdraw from training after suffering an abdominal injury. In October 2011, he was selected for the friendly match against Iran when he came on as a substitute. In the 2012 AFC Challenge Cup held in Nepal, Abuhabib was part of the final squad. In the third-place play-off, he scored the first and second goals for his country against the Philippines , but the match ended 3–4 in favor of the latter.
