Waseem Ayman Jumaa Abu Deeb ( 2000 – July 10 , 2024 ) was a Palestinian runner and member of the Palestinian national athletics team . Abu Deeb represented Palestinian athletics for many years since 2018, participating in the Arab U-20 Championship in Jordan 2018, the West Asian Championship for Men and Women in Jordan 2018, the Asian Games in Jakarta 2018, and the Arab Championship for Men and Women in Tunisia 2021.
His death
Waseem Abu Deeb was killed on July 10, 2024, in an Israeli airstrike on a house in the town of Bani Suhaila, east of Khan Yunis, during the 2023–2024 Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
The Palestinian Olympic Committee announced his death in an official statement, saying: Abu Deeb, a player on the national athletics team, was martyred as a result of the Israeli occupation bombing of his family’s home in the Gaza Strip.
