Information

Ahmad Muhammad Muhaysin was born in Amman on February 17, 1958, to a Palestinian family originally from the town of Ni'lin in the Ramallah and Al-Bireh Governorate. He is married and has five children. He completed his primary education at Qutaiba Bin Muslim and Al-Hussein schools in Jordan, and his secondary education at Al-Hussein College, graduating in 1976. He earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in architecture from the Technical University of Berlin in Germany in 1984, and his doctorate in architecture from the same university in 1993. He worked in engineering offices in Berlin between 1984 and 1986, designing a number of projects, buildings, and children's parks. He opened his own engineering office in 1994 and also worked in the real estate market.
Muhaysin was active in student and union work; he joined the General Union of Palestinian Students in Berlin, and became involved in the activities of the General Union of Palestinian Engineers in Germany. He was chosen as Vice President of Palestinian Communities, Institutions and Activities in Europe, and became the official spokesperson for the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad in 2017. He was also chosen as Secretary-General of the Conference in February 2022.
Muhaysin participated in activating the Palestinian community in the diaspora, specifically in Europe, in a way that serves the Palestinian cause. He worked to build relationships with influential political parties and figures at the European level to support the Palestinian cause and raise awareness about it. He participated in establishing and activating a number of representative bodies for Palestinians in the diaspora, including: the Right of Return Conference, the Conferences of Palestinians in Europe, the Berlin 13 Conference, the Popular Conference for Palestinians Abroad, the General Union of Palestinian Engineers in Germany, and others. He was involved in efforts aimed at ending the political and geographical division in Palestine, and unifying Palestinian efforts at home and abroad in service of the Palestinian cause and to refute the Israeli narrative.
Muhaysin writes political articles, is hosted on various media outlets to comment on developments in the Palestinian issue, and gives lectures and makes interventions at conferences and seminars concerned with the Palestinian issue.
Muhaysin believes that the will of the Palestinian people is destined to prevail, especially given their continued determination to reclaim their rights. He considers the Israeli occupation a Western colonial and settler-colonial project, but one that is ultimately doomed to fail. He cites the history of Arab and European peoples who fought for decades for liberation and independence and ultimately achieved their goals. He rejects temporary solutions for the liberation of Palestine and believes that Palestine encompasses all of historical Palestine, from the river to the sea. He views the political division between Fatah and Hamas as a coup by the Oslo Authority against the results of the legislative elections, the integrity and transparency of which were witnessed by the world. He emphasizes the necessity of unifying efforts to confront the enemy, particularly since the Israeli occupation makes no distinction between factions. He describes the practices of the Palestinian Authority in the West Bank—including the suppression of resistance fighters, the confiscation of weapons, the prevention of confrontations with the occupation, and the promotion of truces and peace with the occupation—as a consequence of the Oslo Accords, which transformed the Authority into a tool serving the occupation. He believes that security coordination between the Authority and the occupation is the secret to the Authority's survival, which explains the occupation's keenness to perpetuate the political division among Palestinian factions.
Muhaysin advocates armed resistance based on the principle that "rights need force to protect them." He believes that talks and negotiations with the occupying power are merely dictates of the strong upon the weak. He emphasizes the right of return, asserting it as a sacred right guaranteed by a United Nations resolution. He considers Palestinians to be on the front lines in the battle to defend the honor of the Muslim and Arab nation, and maintains that Jerusalem and Palestine are Islamic endowment lands, not solely for Palestinians. He believes that settler incursions into Al-Aqsa Mosque are an export of the internal crisis plaguing the occupying state. He views the diversity of political affiliations and intellectual and ideological leanings among participants in the conferences of Palestinians in Europe as an enrichment, granting them a unique and distinguished credibility in terms of democratic representation of Palestinians in the diaspora. He believes their aim and direction are to serve the supreme Palestinian national interests and defend the fundamental principles of the Palestinian people, and they declare their complete rejection of any attempt to abolish or marginalize Palestinian institutions in the diaspora.
