An American doctor of Palestinian origin, a medical researcher known for his pioneering research in liver cancer and hepatitis. He has more than 120 scientific papers in American newspapers, a prominent expert in liver diseases and genetic epidemiology, and is currently the head of the Department of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Baylor College of Medicine, and the clinical chief of epidemiology at the Houston Medical Center.
