Hosni Saleh Al-Khaffash (1917-1972) was an activist in the Arab labor and union movement in Palestine during the British Mandate .

His biography

Born in the village of Marda in the Nablus district in 1917; joined the Palestinian Arab Workers Association in 1932, then became responsible for the association’s branch in Nablus in 1945. After the Nakba, only the Nablus branch remained of the association, which was led by Hosni Al-Khaffash.  After the partition decision, national committees were formed in the Palestinian cities, and Al-Khaffash was chosen as the secretary of the Nablus committee. He was elected secretary-general of the Palestinian workers’ unions in Nablus in 1950, which was later banned by Jordan. He was then elected secretary-general of the General Federation of Palestinian Workers for two consecutive terms and assistant secretary-general of the International Federation of Arab Workers for two consecutive terms (1965-1969). He was also a member of the Palestinian National Council .  He wrote the book “History of Arab Workers in Palestine” and the memoirs “On the History of the Palestinian Arab Labor Movement.”
