Yousef Talal Muhammad Naim al-Habab (Abu Rashid; January 21, 1955 in Jerusalem – died June 27, 2020 in the Netherlands ) was a Palestinian politician and diplomat , who was ambassador to the Netherlands between 1993 and 1996, to Tanzania between 2006 and 2008.
His life
Yousef Habab was born in 1955 in Jerusalem to a Palestinian family that was displaced by the Zionist gangs in 1948 from the Jaffa area to Jerusalem . He lived and grew up in the Deheishe refugee camp in Bethlehem, where his father worked as the director of the Deheishe refugee camp.
He finished high school and began studying law at Beirut Arab University in 1973, but did not complete his studies because he joined the Fatah movement . He returned to Bethlehem and joined Bethlehem University and began studying hotel management, then the Israeli occupation army arrested him between 1974 and 1976.
He moved to the Netherlands in 1978, married a Dutch woman and has 3 children.
In 1993, he was assigned the task of representing the Palestine Liberation Organization to the Netherlands, and later in 1996 he was appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Netherlands and continued in his position until 2005, when he was appointed Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Tanzania and continued in his position until 2008.
His death
Hebab died on June 27, 2020 in the Netherlands , and was buried in the Leiden Islamic Cemetery on July 1, 2020.
