Today, Tuesday, Bethlehem University announced that student Samar Khaled Al-Qawasmi won the title of Ambassador (of Palestine) for Heritage and Folklore for the year 2019, in the competition organized by the Palestinian Authority for Culture, Arts and Heritage in Gaza, and the International Forum for Heritage and Folklore in Cairo, in partnership with Palestinian universities, sponsored by the League of Nations. Arab and UNESCO.

The results were announced at a festival held in Gaza in conjunction with another festival organized in the city of Al-Bireh on the twenty-fifth of August, in the presence of Dr. Michel Sansour, Executive Vice President of the University, Mai Jaber, Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, and a group of university students.

Mr. Jamal Salem, President of the Palestinian Authority for Culture, Arts and Heritage, said in response to Al-Qawasmeh’s victory, “In recognition of the Authority and its belief in the importance of our heritage and its keenness to preserve it and introduce the countries of the world to it, it signed a joint agreement in cooperation with the International Forum for Heritage and Folklore, and under the supervision of the Embassy of the State of Palestine.” The League of Arab States and UNESCO in Cairo, to choose the Ambassador of World Heritage and Folklore.”

Salem added, “To achieve this, a competition was organized to select a girl to hold the title of Palestinian Ambassador for Heritage and Folklore, with the participation of Palestinian universities in all the northern and southern governorates of the country to choose the best girl from each university and nominate her for this title according to specific criteria set by the Commission and the Preparatory Committee. She will be transferred to the second stage in Cairo to choose.” The best candidate for the title of Ambassador of World Heritage and Folklore.

Al-Qawasmi is scheduled to participate in the activities of the International Heritage and Folklore Festival, which will be held in Cairo on October 15, 2019, to compete for the title of International Heritage and Folklore Ambassador.
