Her biography
First life
Laila Moran was born on September 12, 1982, to a British father who was his country’s ambassador to the European Union, and a Palestinian Christian mother from Jerusalem, while her great-grandfather is the Palestinian musician and writer Wassef Jawhariyeh (1897-1972). Regarding her roots, Laila Moran said that her Palestinian roots made her interested in international affairs: “Politics was always at the dinner table.” Because her father was a diplomat, Moran moved between many countries, including Belgium, Greece, Ethiopia, Jordan, and Jamaica, before settling in Britain. In addition to her mother tongue, English, Moran is fluent in Arabic, French, Greek, and part of Spanish.

Laila Morin studied in Brussels, Kingston and Brighton, until between 2000 and 2003 she obtained a degree in physics from Imperial College London, and between 2005 and 2007 she obtained a postgraduate degree from Brunel University, and between 2007 and 2008 she obtained a master’s degree in comparative education from the Institute of Education. .

Between 2003 and 2012, Moran worked as a physics and mathematics teacher in three different schools: the International School in Brussels, Queensmead School in London, and South Bank International School in London. Between 2009 and 2013 she worked as a part-time course tutor at Oxford Courses, a company that helps IB teachers and students, and since 2013 she has been full-time Academy Director there. She is also a school principal in Oxford.

political work
In 2009, before she was appointed as the Liberal Democrat candidate, Moran expressed optimism about the prospect of forming a coalition government with the Conservative Party. She told BBC News: “I think we can work with them, and I think it wouldn't be stupid, but I think we will have to control it as much as we can, and elect ourselves behind it.” However, after Conservative leader David Cameron made public statements to the Lib Dems, speaking of common ground and the possibility of a centre-right alliance, she said: 'I was left in mild shock at what he had tried to do: make the public believe that there were not many differences between the Lib Dems. And the conservatives and intimidating our supporters into voting for them.”

Moran was chosen as the Liberal Democrat candidate for the constituency of Battersea in the 2010 UK election, and told BBC News at the time: "I'm as sick as everyone else of how politics has worked in this country in recent years. We need to change the way we operate the system and give people a voice." “For those people who are not necessarily represented.” In her electoral position at that time, her assertion appeared: “This is our opportunity to build a more just Britain for a government that took us into Iraq, into recession, and into the worst Westminster scandal since the 1990s.”

Moran later became a candidate for the London Assembly in the 2012 election. Within the Liberal Democrats, she was an elected member of the International Relations Committee and is a former co-chair of the Parliamentary Candidates Association.

Moran ran in the 2017 British legislative elections and received about 15% of the votes, for the Oxford West and Abingdon constituency, and her competitor was the former Minister of Health, who belongs to the Conservative Party, Nicola Blackwood. Thus, Moran is one of 11 representatives of non-British roots who won seats in the House of Commons. In June 2017 Moran was appointed Liberal Democrat spokesman for education, science and youth in the House of Commons. In June 2017 she called in her maiden speech for fair funding in schools, and in July 2017 she spoke about the closure of all Sure Start children's centers in Oxfordshire, which occurred earlier this year.
