Bassam Ahmad Omar Al-Salhi is a Palestinian politician. He is the Secretary-General of the Palestinian People’s Party (formerly Communist), and a representative in the Palestinian Legislative Council on the left-leaning “Alternative” list. Bassam Al-Salhi was born in Al-Amari camp in 1960 AD. He obtained a master's degree in international studies, and has written many books and intellectual and political studies. He served as President of the Birzeit University Student Council between 1979-1981 AD, and is a member of the National Steering Committee. He led the struggle of the student movement against the Camp David Accords, and because of that he was arrested several times and was subjected to house arrest.

He was a member of the Unified National Command of the First Intifada. He was arrested in 1990 and sentenced to three years in prison and a similar period of time suspended. With the outbreak of the Tunnel Intifada in 1996 AD, and the Al-Aqsa Intifada and Independence Intifada in 2000 AD, he participated in their leadership bodies with other national forces, frameworks, and organizations.

A member of the Palestinian National Council, the Central Council of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and the committee following up on the apartheid wall file at The Hague Court, and he was part of the Palestinian delegation to attend the court sessions. He is a member of the follow-up team that devoted its activities to mobilizing international support to support the Palestinian people.
