Omar Sabri Katamto (born 1943 in Acre ) is a Palestinian refugee diplomat , politician and poet , who served as head of the Palestine Liberation Organization's mission to Denmark , Norway and Iceland between the mid-1980s and the mid-2000s.

His life

Katamto was born in the city of Acre in 1943 during the British Mandate over Palestine . After the 1948 war and the Zionist gangs seizing about 78% of the area of historical Palestine , his family took refuge in the city of Damascus in Syria . He obtained a master's degree from the Higher Institute of Dramatic Arts in Sofia in 1971, and a doctorate in theater history in 1980. He worked as a teacher at the University of Annaba in Algeria , and the University of Oslo in Norway . 

He was tasked with establishing a PLO office in Denmark in 1985,  and in Norway in 1986. 

After the establishment of the Palestinian National Authority, he continued to serve as the PLO Representative to Norway, and was entrusted with the task of representing the Palestinian National Authority to Norway, a position he held until his retirement in October 2005.

His poems

He has many poetic works, the most prominent of which are: The Commandments, The Poet’s Atonement, Scheherazade, The King, Damascus, The Message and the Companions, Dialogue with Death, and The Old Neighborhood Fortune Teller.
