Fayez Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Aita (Abu Muhammad; born September 27, 1967 in Jabalia Camp ) is a freed prisoner, Palestinian politician and diplomat . He holds a PhD in Constitutional Law and Political Systems and is Deputy Secretary of the Revolutionary Council of the Fatah Movement and a member of the Palestinian National Council .

Origins and period of detention

Fayez Abu Aita was born in 1967 in Jabalia camp in the northern Gaza Strip . Abu Aita's family was forcibly displaced in 1948 from the Palestinian village of Najd , located near the border areas of the Gaza Strip . Abu Aita was arrested in his early youth at the age of 16 and spent eight years in Israeli prisons (1984-1992).  During his detention, he was transferred to several prisons, including Ashkelon , Nafha , Gaza, Ramla and Saba. During this period, he was able to master the Hebrew language and obtain a high school diploma. Abu Aita then devoted himself to organizational work inside the prison, and was one of the leaders of the Fatah movement in Ashkelon prison. Abu Aita participated in many strikes, the most important of which was a hunger strike for 17 days in Nafha prison .

Professional and political life

Abu Aita was elected a year after the Palestinian Authority came into power as a member of the Northern Gaza Regional Committee in 1995 , and was re-elected for the next election in 2005. Abu Aita was elected mayor of Beit Lahia in 2004. Abu Aita was appointed official spokesman for the Fatah movement in 2009. Abu Aita was elected a member of the Fatah Revolutionary Council at the Seventh Fatah Conference , and shortly thereafter was elected First Deputy Secretary of the Fatah Revolutionary Council. Abu Aita served as Acting Minister of Information with the rank of Deputy and Acting Minister in 2018.  Abu Aita has held several positions at the governmental and political levels:

Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria. 
Acting Minister of Information and Undersecretary of the Ministry 2018 .
First Deputy Secretary of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah Movement .
He held the position of Director General of Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Prisoners 2000 .
Official spokesman for the Fatah movement 2009. 
Deputy Commissioner-General of the National Relations Commission of Fatah Movement 2017 .  
Member of the Palestinian National Council since 2018 .
A freed prisoner for 8 consecutive years , 1984-1992 .
University lecturer at several Palestinian universities.
Fayez Abu Aita took the legal oath before the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas , in October 2021, as the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the People's Democratic Republic of Algeria .  He also presented his credentials to the President of the Algerian Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune , thus becoming the official Ambassador of the State of Palestine to the Algerian Republic.

Scientific career

Abu Aita enrolled in high school, but was unable to complete his studies at that time due to his detention in Israeli prisons . However, he was able to obtain a high school diploma during his detention and was able to learn and master the Hebrew language while serving his detention. After completing his detention, Abu Aita enrolled in the Faculty of Sharia and Law at Al-Azhar University to obtain a bachelor's degree . He then obtained a master's degree in the Arab Republic of Egypt . He then obtained a doctorate in constitutional law and political systems from Mansoura University in 2008. Abu Aita held many political seminars in several Palestinian and Arab universities. Such as the political seminar held on the anniversary of the Balfour Declaration in light of the data of the Deal of the Century at Al-Istiqlal University .  Abu Aita's career was not limited to studies only, but he was also active in the academic field. He held several academic positions:

University lecturer at Al-Istiqlal University in Jericho . While teaching at Al-Istiqlal University, he contributed to establishing the College of Legal and Police Sciences 2009-2010 .
University lecturer at Al-Quds Open University 2011 - 2015 .
University lecturer at the University of Palestine in the Gaza Strip , where he taught Constitutional Law and Political Systems, Faculty of Law , 2013-2016 .
