Abdullah Hussein Abdullah Hijazi ( 1945–2024) was a Palestinian politician and diplomat. He served as director of the Palestine Liberation Organization office in Hungary, and then in Poland . He was a member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah, and a member of the Palestinian Central and Palestinian National Councils.
His life
Abdullah Hijaz was born in Tulkarm to a family from the town of Anabta , east of Tulkarm District , during the British Mandate period in Palestine . He was the representative of the Palestine Liberation Organization to Hungary until 1983, and to Poland between 1983 and 1995. He served as Undersecretary of the Palestinian Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities between 1995 and 2005.
He founded the Association of Graduates of Polish Universities and Institutes, headquartered in Ramallah. In 2009, he was elected Chairman of the Civilian Retirees Authority and remained its Chairman until his death in 2024.
His death
He died at dawn on Thursday, March 21, 2024, in the Palestine Hospital of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in the Egyptian capital, Cairo. He was buried in the Palestine Liberation Organization cemetery in the Ghafir Cemetery.
Medals
On 26 March 2011, Bogosław Ohodek, Ambassador of Poland to the Palestinian National Authority , on behalf of the President of Poland, Bronisław Komorowski , awarded Hijazi the highest order of merit of the Republic of Poland.
