Mayada Yousef Mustafa Bamia (Umm Al-Fahd; born July 25, 1945 – died December 16, 2020 in Dakar, Senegal) was a Palestinian diplomat and politician, a member of the Fatah movement, and a founder of the General Union of Palestinian Women. She was the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Portugal, and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Brazil between 2006 and 2010.
Her personal life
Her father, Youssef Bamia, owned the Bamia Bus Company in Jaffa before the Nakba, and her mother was Algerian.
She married Said Mohammad Abbasi, born in Jerusalem in 1939, who was the PLO representative to Senegal, Guinea, Angola, Guinea-Bissau, and Gambia. Her husband died in 2004 and was buried in Senegal.
Mayada's youngest daughter, Salwan Abbasi, passed away on February 22, 2020 and was buried in Senegal. She was a diplomat who worked at the Palestinian mission to France.
