Subhi Ali Abu Karsh was born in the village of Beit Jirja in the occupied Gaza Strip on July 16, 1936. He is married and has three sons and three daughters. He studied primary school in the schools of the Shuja'iyya district in Gaza City, and secondary school in Palestine Secondary School, from which he obtained his high school diploma. He obtained a bachelor's degree in commerce from the University of Riyadh in Saudi Arabia in 1964. He worked as a teacher in Saudi schools, then as an accountant in the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture.

Abu Karsh is from the founding generation of the Fatah movement, having joined it in 1963. He participated in planning and implementing its national activities, and contributed to spreading its concepts and orientations among the Palestinian community in Saudi Arabia. He has assumed several organizational tasks within it; He was the movement’s financial oversight officer between 1968 and 1969, the military administration officer in the movement’s Daraa and Al-Hamah camps in Syria between 1969 and 1971, the movement’s finance officer between 1971 and 1972, the administration and finance officer in the Occupied Territories Apparatus (Western Sector) between 1972 and 1974, and was chosen as the official of the Gaza Committee in the Occupied Territories Apparatus (Western Sector) in the movement between 1974 and 1986.

He was elected a member of the Revolutionary Council in Fatah at the Fourth Conference in May 1980, a member of the Fatah Central Committee in August 1989, and was appointed Palestine’s ambassador to Saudi Arabia between 1990 and 1994. He played a role in restoring the PLO’s relations with the Gulf States after the Second Gulf War. He also held the position of Palestine’s permanent representative to both the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and the Muslim World League, and represented Palestine in a number of conferences. Islamic and Jerusalem Committee, and was a member of the National and Central Councils of the Palestine Liberation Organization, and head of the Financial Fact-Finding Committee in the Fatah Movement in 1993.

Abu Karsh suffered from a terminal illness that led to his death on January 4, 1994, and he was buried in the Baqi Cemetery in Medina, Saudi Arabia.
