Mufid Muhammad Ahmad al-Shami (born September 15 , 1954 in Beit Ur al-Tahta ) is a Palestinian diplomat who served as the Palestinian ambassador to several European countries.

Early life and education

He holds a diploma from Mount Olive College in North Carolina in 1975 , and a bachelor's degree in business administration and economics from Birzeit University in 1978. 
He holds a master's degree from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Florida in 1981. He holds a doctorate degree from the University of Houston in Texas in 1985 in political science . 

His positions

He started working as a lecturer at An-Najah National University in September 1981 and continued until June 2003. 
He worked at the Arab Thought Forum between February 1991 and July 1995. 
He was appointed Director General of Accreditation, Licensing and Evaluation at the Palestinian Ministry of Higher Education and remained in the position between June 1996 and March 1998. 
He served as Director General of the North America Department at the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2003 and 2005. 
He was appointed as an ambassador at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs between 2007 and 2010. 
He was the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Portugal between 2010 and 2013,  the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Norway between 2013 and 2015,  the Non-Resident Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Iceland between 2014 and 2016,  and the Ambassador of the State of Palestine to Denmark between 2015 and 2020. 
In 2025, he was appointed by President Abbas as Secretary-General of the Board of Trustees of Al-Quds Open University for the term (2025–2028).
