Khaled Ahmed Khaled Erekat (born March 20 , 1955 in Abu Dis ) is a Palestinian diplomat who served as the Palestinian Ambassador to Ukraine from 2006 to 2011 , and as the Palestinian Ambassador to Belarus from 2011 to 2022.
His life
He was born in the town of Abu Dis in 1955 during the period of Jordanian administration of the West Bank, where he received his primary education. He enrolled at Damascus University , but was forced to discontinue his studies and move to Lebanon due to the dispute between the Syrian regime and the Palestine Liberation Organization . He completed his university studies in Moscow , in the Soviet Union , where he served as president of the General Union of Palestinian Students and "Secretary of the Fatah Regional Office" there. He obtained a doctorate in international law.
He was appointed as a cultural advisor to the Palestine Liberation Organization office in Moscow, then returned to the Palestinian territories after the Oslo Accords, where he served as Director General at the Ministry of Higher Education. He then moved to work at the Palestinian Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation , rising through the ministry's ranks until he was appointed Ambassador to Ukraine in 2005. He then served as Ambassador to Belarus in 2011, a post he held until 2022. He was Dean of the Diplomatic Corps in Belarus.
