Born in Nablus in 1907; educated in An-Najah College in Nablus, then in Aleih in Lebanon; enrolled at the AUB; graduated with a degree in Law from the University of London, where he studied from 1926-30; lecturer of Modern History and English Language in An-Najah University, Nablus; participated in organizing a national conference in opposition to the British Mandate policies vis-à-vis the Jews (the conference was followed by a huge demonstration leading to his imprisonment by the British for six months); called for the establishment of national committees in Jerusalem; was elected a member to the Nablus national committee; was imprisoned for a second time during the 1936 Revolt; participated in the Bludan Conference; was wanted by the Mandate authorities following the assassination of the British Commander in the Galilee; fled as a result to Damascus and returned after two years; joined the Mujaheddin, moving between Palestine, Syria and Baghdad; was displaced to Ramallah following the 1948 Nakba; was appointed member in the Jerusalem Court of Appeal in 1950, then legal advisor in the Jordanian Ministry of Justice; was consultant of the Syrian delegation at the UNSC; was assistant to the General Manager of the Arab Bank in Syria, Director of eight Arab-Syrian branches, and Director of the Bank’s Damascus branch; became Jordanian PM in 1967; later served as Jordanian Minister of Construction; published his autobiography in 2001; died in Beirut in 2002.
