Abdul Karim Ali Iraqi is a German politician of Palestinian origin from the Arab al-Raml area in Palestine. He was born in Lebanon, then moved to Czechoslovakia, and later to the Federal Republic of Germany. He studied Educational Sociology and was active in sports as a coach for the German Football Association.
In 2007, he became a member of the German Green Party, and in 2009 he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the party. He ran for elections in 2011, won in the first round, and secured a seat in the local advisory council as well as a seat in the municipal parliamentary council of the city.
He was appointed Deputy Mayor, becoming the first Palestinian Arab to hold this position in all of Germany, and also the first Palestinian and Muslim to win a parliamentary seat in the city council.
