Dr. Haidar Abdel Shafi: Born in Gaza in 1919, he graduated as one of the first doctors in the Gaza Strip in 1943, where he worked extensively in humanitarian service for Palestinian refugees. Dr. Abdel Shafi was influenced by his father, Sheikh Muhi al-Din, whom he considered his life's inspiration and one of the most important leaders of the Palestinian people. He headed the Palestinian negotiating delegation at the Madrid Peace Conference, convinced that Israel did not want peace.
