Ahed Basem Muhammad Tamimi (January 31, 2001-), is a Palestinian anti-occupation activist born in the village of Nabi Saleh. She became prominent in the media since she was a young age, while she challenged Israeli soldiers who assaulted her and her activist mother, Nariman al-Tamimi, in a peaceful anti-settlement march in The village of Nabi Saleh, west of Ramallah, in August 2012, in a scene reported by international media.

On December 19, 2017, Ahed Al-Tamimi (16 years old) returned to the top of the news and social media pages for confronting the soldiers, and a widely circulated video showed her slapping two armed soldiers, which led to her arrest at dawn that day from her home. At the time of her arrest in 2017, Ahed Tamimi was still a high school student in the literary section at Al-Bireh Secondary School for Girls.

Ahed and her mother were sent to the Israeli Sharon Prison, where they were imprisoned for eight months. They were then released on Sunday, July 29, 2018, and sent to the village of Nabi Saleh.

Since her childhood, Ahed has been known among her peers that she is constantly defying the occupation army in its attacks on her family and her neighbors, as she and her mother managed to free her brother Muhammad from the hands of the occupation forces that tried to arrest him, and the media cameras captured that situation. Since the age of four, Ahed has participated with her parents in many marches and demonstrations in rejection of the policies imposed by the Israeli authorities against her region. She stated that she fully believed in what she was doing, and saw that going out in marches against Israeli policies is an incentive for people to continue the struggle. Including that, she would not give up participating in the weekly march every Friday in the village of Nabi Saleh, raising the slogan “Get out of our land.. This land is not yours.” She always wished to study law and become a lawyer to defend her homeland, her people, and her people.

The march of Nabi Saleh began since December 2009, as a weekly protest of the villagers and some international solidarity against the apartheid wall and the confiscation of village lands in favor of the “Halamish” settlement. .

Her father, Basem Al-Tamimi, was born in the village of Nabi Saleh on March 30, 1967; He studied economics at Birzeit University in Ramallah, and then obtained a master's degree in international law from the University of Barcelona. The Israeli forces arrested him for the first time in 1988, during the Al-Aqsa Intifada; Then he was re-arrested in 1993. During his arrest, he was subjected to severe torture by shaking, which caused him a semi-paralysis of his foot and hand. Bassem's sister was martyred in 1993 while attending a court for her son, as a result of an attack by an Israeli female soldier, which paralyzed her and killed her instantly.

Her mother, Nariman Al-Tamimi, was born in Saudi Arabia in 1977. She holds a high school diploma in the city of Ramallah; She was arrested more than 5 times, and she was also beaten by the Israeli soldiers because of her camera recording of the crimes of the occupation in the village of Nabi Saleh. She has 3 sons, Waad, Muhammad and Salam, and then one daughter, Ahed.

Her father and mother are members of the Popular Resistance Committee against the Wall and Settlements, which was established in 2009 to organize activities against the Israeli occupation in the village. Also, a media office was established to monitor and document the crimes of the Israeli forces against the residents of the village, known as "Tamimi Press".

More than twenty Israeli patrols arrested Ahed in the late night of December 18, 2017, in the village of Nabi Saleh, near the occupied city of Ramallah. The Israeli forces that stormed the house had seized a number of computers and mobile phones, before arresting Ahed. Meanwhile, the same forces arrested Ahed's mother, Nariman Al-Tamimi, in front of Binyamin camp, north of Ramallah, while she was on her way to find out the status of her daughter, who was arrested that day. The father, Basem Al-Tamimi, was also arrested by the Israeli forces from inside the courtroom while he was attending his daughter's court session a day after her arrest.

On December 24, 2017, an Israeli court refused to release Ahed Tamimi. On January 1, 2018, an Israeli court extended her and her mother’s detention for another 8 days, and charged her with 12 official charges, including obstructing work, insulting soldiers, incitement, making threats, participating in riots and throwing stones. On January 15, 2018, an Israeli court extended Ahed's detention for 48 hours to complete the interrogation for the fourth time since her arrest. On Monday, April 9, 2018, Basem Al-Tamimi held a press conference at Al-Haq human rights organization in Ramallah in the West Bank, in which he said that the Israeli authorities handed them a two-hour video tape of one of the interrogation sessions, some of which lasted twelve hours a day, showing In it, an Israeli Military Intelligence officer and a police officer threaten Ahed to arrest her family and friends if she remains silent, and then verbally harass her by talking about her blue eyes and blonde hair. Al-Tamimi stressed that publishing the video aims to educate families about strengthening their children to face any arrest operation, how to deal with the interrogator, highlight the Israeli occupation policy to the world and show Israel that it does not respect any international laws, and a message to the Gaza Strip that popular resistance is now important in resisting the occupation, and an invitation to the West Bank To participate in the return march.
