Information
Wadah Khanfar is a Palestinian journalist and engineer from the village of Al-Rameh in the Jenin district. He graduated as an engineer from the University of Jordan in 1990, then continued his studies in International Relations in South Africa. He also studied in Sudan, where he earned a Master’s degree from the International University of Africa.
Khanfar joined Al Jazeera Media Network in 1997 and served as its Director General from 2003 to 2011. He was named by Fast Company magazine as one of the most creative figures in business leadership in 2011, and was listed by Forbes magazine in 2009 among the world’s most powerful and influential people.
He is a member of the Executive Committee of the Board of Trustees of the International Crisis Group.
