Information

Mona Nabil al-Kurd was born in 1998. She is an activist and journalist . She studied media at Birzeit University in the West Bank. She became prominent during her coverage of the events of Sheikh Jarrah in the occupied city of Jerusalem

her life

Mona was born in 1998 in Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood . From a young age, she and her family were subjected to harassment and threats of eviction by the Israeli authorities. In 2009, half of her house was seized by Israeli settlers under the pretext of building without a permit. Today, her family is facing an Israeli court decision that will evict them from the second half of her house along with 11 other families. They were given 30 days to leave the house, but the family's lawyer has lodged an appeal with the local court. The Israeli court justified its ruling in favor of the Israeli settler organizations on the grounds of the statute of limitations, saying that more than 30 years had passed since the settlers claimed the land and registered it.

In 2021 , Mona El-Kurd and her brother, Mohamed El-Kurd , were named to the annual list of “The 100 Most Influential People in the World ” of Time magazine
