Maher Abdullah is a Palestinian broadcaster and television presenter from the city of Jenin, holding British nationality. He began his career in print journalism, covering the Bosnian War for the London-based newspaper Al-Hayat. He later moved to work at MBC in London, where he oversaw and presented several talk shows.
In 1998, Maher Abdullah joined Al Jazeera in Qatar, where he became widely known for hosting the program “Sharia and Life,” which featured numerous figures involved in religious and political affairs across the Islamic world. He also hosted other talk shows on the network.
In 2003, he covered the Iraq War during the U.S. invasion as part of the Al Jazeera team in Iraq, and he was the Arabic voice that broadcasted the fall of Baghdad to the world on April 9, 2003.
