Sawsan Qaoud (born in Nablus, 1972-), is a Palestinian filmmaker and lecturer at Al-Quds University. She holds a master's degree in television production from Moscow and Cardiff Universities. She has worked in production since 1995, as a TV producer and reporter for MBC, directing and producing many feature documentaries.


In 2013, she co-founded Mashhad Art Production Company, a company that contributes to providing facilities to filmmakers, and also produces cinematic films and TV documentaries.

In 2019, Sawsan will launch the Al-Quds Media Training Center in cooperation with Al-Quds University.


She lived in Palestine until the beginning of the first intifada, then moved to learn media in Moscow, and stayed there for a period of five years. She graduated in 1994 and then began her training as a reporter at MBC in Moscow. She returned to Palestine to work as a correspondent for the MBC channel at its headquarters in Jerusalem.

She worked in directing fiction films based on real women's stories, and her first film, which was a success during the second intifada, deals with captured women football players.

Qaoud's films list includes the movie "Women on the Playground", which was released in 2011 and shows the suffering of the Palestinian women's football team in playing and training under the Israeli occupation,

In addition to the film "Diaspora Symphony", which was released this year and documents how a number of musicians of Palestinian origin were chosen to play classical music in the West Bank and Israel.

The Smuggled Sperm, a 90-minute documentary, tells the story of Shereen Nazzal, a Palestinian woman who gets pregnant with a child as a result of artificial insemination after receiving smuggled sperm from her husband, who is in an Israeli prison. With this film, Sherine tries to live a life as a single mother in a conservative Palestinian society.
