Munther Abdullah Muhammad Dahla , ( born August 27, 1962 ) is a Palestinian-American scientist , professor , and academic . He was born in the Palestinian city of Tulkarm . He is an internationally known scientist in the field of control, and has made scientific contributions in the fields of control engineering, technology, smart cities, and sustainable development. He has a number of patents officially registered in his name. He is the founder of the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) at the Massachusetts University of Technology . He has won a number of international awards, and he is the brother of the scientist Muhammad Dahla .

Munther Abdullah Muhammad Dahla was born in Tulkarm , West Bank, on August 27, 1962. He obtained a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering in 1983 from Texas A&M University in the United States of America , and a doctorate in electrical engineering in 1987 from Rice University in the United States of America .
His professional life
Munther Dahleh has been a scientist, academic, and professor at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) since 1987 , during which time he has held several positions at the institute. He also founded the Institute for Data, Systems, and Society (IDSS) at MIT , and served as director of the IDSS from July 1, 2015 , to June 30 , 2023.
He is a member of the Laboratory for Information and Decision Systems (LIDS) at MIT .
